Turkey is Transitioning to the “.tr” Domain

Turkey's new internet domain name, "http://a.tr” has been introduced. This extension type, which will be managed by TRABİS (TR Network Information System), will make it easier for websites and online services to be accessed with shorter and simpler addresses.

Currently, the extension provided for Turkey is in the form of "com.tr". However, the new domain will allow the use of the ".tr" extension. For example, short and specific domain names like "http://a.tr” will take their place in the internet world.

Among the domain names provided by TRABİS are "a.gov.tr", "a.edu.tr", "a.tsk.tr", "a.bel.tr", "a.pol.tr", "a.k12.tr". These domain names will be allocated to ".tr" for free.

Starting from September 13

It was stated that the new ".tr" extension entered the testing phase as of September 13, but initially, it will not be possible to allocate it individually or corporately. After the completion of the tests, sites with the "com.tr" extension will be transitioned to the "a.tr" system.
