Turkey is Switching to “.tr” Domain Name

Turkey’s new internet domain name “http://a.tr” has been introduced. This extension type, which will be managed by TRABİS (TR Network Information System), will now allow websites and online services to be accessed more easily and with shorter addresses.

The extension currently provided for Turkey is “com.tr”. However, the “.tr” extension will be used with the new domain name. For example, short and special domain names such as “http://a.tr” will take their place in the internet world.

The domain names to be provided by TRABİS include “a.gov.tr”, “a.edu.tr”, “a.tsk.tr”, “a.bel.tr”, “a.pol.tr”, “a.k12.tr”. “.tr” will be allocated free of charge from these domain names.

As of September 13

It was stated that the new “.tr” extension entered the testing process as of September 13, however, it is not possible to make individual and institutional allocations in the first process. After the completion of the tests, sites with the “com.tr” extension will be transferred to the “a.tr” system.
